Feast!
We are thrilled to announce that Tinderbox is a finalist in the FEAST #11 Community Grant! The winner of the grant will be decided this Saturday, July 9 at Church of the Messiah (129 Russel Street) in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The event takes place from 5-8pm! So come eat dinner, get to know other community members producing innovate projects, and support Tinderbox, FEAST, and community!
About FEAST:
FEAST (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) is a recurring public dinner designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund new and emerging art makers. At each FEAST, patrons give a $20 donation for which they receive supper and a ballot. Diners spend the evening reviewing a series of project proposals and conversing with the artists behind each idea. Attendees cast a vote for their favorite proposal, and by the end of the night, the artist who garners the most votes is awarded a grant comprised of that evening’s door money.
Summer Songwriting Workshop
Tinderbox is excited to announce that we will be partnering with Girls Write Now to present the Tinderbox Arts/Girls Write Now Summer Songwriting Workshop this July! Participants do not have to know how to play an instrument or have ever written a song to participate. Girls will be paired with female songwriting mentors who are professional NYC musicians (some of whom have performed at the Tinderbox Music Festival) to write original collaborative songs. If you know a girl between the ages of 13 and 19 who is interested in participating in this FREE event, please e-mail: tboxsongwrite@gmail.com and we will send you more information.
